KVR College Holds Seminar on Drone Technology

Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh) — A three-day training seminar on drone technology was successfully organised at KVR (Women’s) Degree College, drawing keen participation from students and faculty. The seminar — backed financially by the Central Government — was conducted jointly by the college’s Departments of Physics and Biotechnology, highlighting the growing importance of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in modern science and industry.

Renowned technology expert Professor Krishna Nayak from IIIT-DM served as the chief guest for the event. In his address, he traced the evolution of drone technology from its early beginnings in Australia in the 19th century to its adoption in military and civilian sectors across the world. He particularly emphasised the expanding career prospects in the drone industry, noting how drones have become essential tools in areas ranging from agriculture and surveying to disaster management and data analytics.

College Principal Dr. K. Venkat Reddy pointed out that drones are increasingly influencing key sectors such as precision farming, environmental monitoring and emergency response, and urged students to build skills that align with this fast-growing field. As part of the programme, participants engaged in interactive sessions and received certificates upon completion of the seminar.

The seminar, attended by both faculty members and students from science backgrounds, aimed to broaden understanding of drone operations, applications and technological advancements, preparing young learners for future opportunities in engineering, research and tech-driven careers.
