Thakral to Manufacture Drone Components in India, Tapping into Rapid Market Growth

Date: February 27, 2026

Singapore-listed Thakral Corporation Ltd has announced a major strategic expansion in India, with plans to begin in-house manufacturing of drone components from May 2026 as part of its broader push into the enterprise, agricultural, and commercial drone segments.

According to the company’s latest financial update, the move marks a key milestone in strengthening its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing drone markets. Industry projections estimate India’s drone ecosystem could expand from around USD 500 million in FY2024 to nearly USD 11 billion by FY2030, driven by increased adoption across agriculture, infrastructure, logistics, and enterprise applications.

Manufacturing Focus & Market Potential

Thakral’s subsidiary Bharat Skytech will lead the production effort, establishing local manufacturing lines for enterprise-grade and specialised drone parts. The firm aims to support domestic drone manufacturers by supplying critical components—helping address the long-standing supply challenges in India’s drone industry.

The company highlighted that agricultural drones represent a particularly strong growth area, with domestic demand outpacing existing local component availability. By producing components locally, Thakral expects to capture a significant portion of the projected market expansion while contributing to broader initiatives like Make in India.

Strategic Partnerships & Retail Expansion

Thakral also maintains a strategic tie-up with DJI Technology, acting as a key distributor for DJI drones and accessories across South Asia. To bolster its regional footprint, the group plans to launch 20–30 DJI retail stores in India and neighbouring markets over the next two to three years, starting in the first half of FY2026.

Financial Performance & Long-Term Vision

Alongside its drone strategy, Thakral reported a strong financial performance for the 12 months ended December 31, 2025, with revenue rising 42% year-on-year to SGD 411.3 million and net profits more than quintupling to an all-time high of SGD 170.9 million.

The expansion into drone components and retail reflects the company’s broader strategy of diversifying into high-growth technology sectors while leveraging India’s large and expanding market base.
